Initial Assessment and Planning

Prior to your arrival, our program director will contact you to gather medical records and an in-depth personal history. We will then create a Wellness Week plan custom-tailored to address your issues and improve your overall well-being.

Medical Team Evaluation and Treatment

Your program will begin with an evaluation of your health status by our medical team. You will have several hours to discuss your health concerns with medical directors Dr. Weiss and Dr. Newberry, as well as our naturopathic physician and physician assistant. They will review your medical history, symptoms and prescription medications, and prescribe additional testing, medication, supplements and/or herbs, as needed.

You will continue to meet with a physician at least once a day to track your healing while your mind, body and spirit are nurtured through a wide range of healing techniques and spiritual rejuvenation. Please see Healing Therapies for a complete list of healing techniques used by our experts. You’ll also benefit from the emotional support of your peers and enjoy on-site gourmet meals and recreational activities in our beautiful and serene mountain setting.

Integrated Wellness Plan for the Future

At the end of your stay, you will meet with the clinical directors to discuss an ongoing wellness program based on our assessments and your responses to the therapies you experienced. A written summary and recommendations will be sent to you, and we will coordinate with your healthcare providers at home to ensure your continuing care. We will also research alternative therapy options in your home area to enable you to maintain the program you began while in our care.

Accommodations

Patients of Next Step® Institute’s Wellness Weeks have two options for accommodations: Two Thunderbirds Ranch

Next Step® Institute’s Two Thunderbirds Ranch is located in nearby Eagle, Colorado, nestled in an alpine landscape featuring glorious sunrises and stunning mountain vistas. Situated on five acres of rolling hills, sagebrush and Colorado wild grasses, our tranquil grounds nourish the healing process.

The ranch house has five guest bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths and living, kitchen and dining areas decorated in Western rustic, yet elegant décor. There are wood floors and hypoallergenic carpeting in the guest rooms. Each guest room is private, but contains at least two beds to allow for patients who are visiting with a spouse or support person. On the Ranch grounds you’ll find our Native American Sweat Lodge and the stable of healing horses used in our equine therapy. One mile away is charming downtown Eagle—a historic Old West town that offers delightful dining and shopping opportunities.

Rock Resorts

While we strongly encourage patients to get the most from their healing program by experiencing the support and serenity of on-site residence at the Ranch, alternative accommodations are available at special rates through our hotel partner, Rock Resorts. Rock Resorts’ collection of nearby Vail properties includes The Lodge & Spa at Cordillera, The Lodge at Vail , Austria Haus Hotel and The Arrabelle at Vail Square . For more information, visit www.rockresorts.com.

Transportation

We provide all transportation throughout the Wellness Week for patients staying at Two Thunderbirds Ranch.

We are also happy to provide complimentary transportation from the Eagle or Denver airports to our Ranch. Airport transportation is offered on the Sunday preceding and the Saturday following Wellness Weeks. Eagle airport is 15 minutes from the Ranch, while drive time to and from Denver International Airport is at least two and a half hours. Please schedule flight times accordingly.

If you prefer to drive, please call for directions to our facilities. In consideration of patient confidentiality and privacy, directions to the ranch are not publicly available on our site.
