Welcome to the Next Step Institute of Integrative Medicine
We are a non-profit institute which offers the very best of modern integrative medicine with the wisdom of Eastern medicine, Native American medicine, spiritual healing practices, and a spectrum of holistic therapies. We believe that the current state of medical care in North America, while technically sophisticated, is not responsive to the real needs of patients and their families. Our goal is optimal wellness for our patients, no matter how overwhelming or difficult their problems may be.
Our wellness center in Colorado is nestled within the therapeutic and serene mountain beauty of the Vail Valley. As our patient, you would join a very small group of others coping with the same or similar health challenges. Our patients travel from locations around the world to spend a week at the Vail center, consulting with a team of caring, nationally recognized clinicians, therapists and physicians. The Next Step team would work with you to explore all possible approaches to improve your health and quality of life. As you experience these therapies, you will be free to choose what will work for you, and then together we will develop a plan for your ongoing professional and self-care when you return home.
When life presents challenges such as cancer, chronic pain or chronic illness, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, M.S., diabetes, silicone-induced illness, nicotine or food addiction, post-traumatic stress, childhood trauma, migraine headaches, quitting smoking, career stress or family crisis, just to name a few, where do you turn? Who is your support group? Where do you find a doctor who will truly listen to your fears, frustrations and questions, and take the time to know you as a person? Where do you find the natural remedies, complementary alternative therapies and integrative medicine to overcome such problems? How do you regain your strength, courage or joy in living?
That is where Next Step comes in. We teach you how to physically and mentally reclaim your sense of self as well as show you how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We will thoroughly examine all your medical records before you arrive, ask you to tell us your specific needs and concerns, and then plan an individualized program to meet those needs. In addition to comprehensive sessions with each of our clinical directors and physicians, your plan might include a realistic program of nutrition and exercise, massage therapy, yoga, and pilates, meditation and spirituality, equine and art therapy, sweat lodge, as well as Chi Kung, an ancient Chinese form of energy healing.
